MCTV Needs Your Support

MCTV runs a state of the art community access cable channel from its facilities in El Granada. With a very small part time staff and with dedicated volunteers, MCTV has been on the air continuously since June of 1985. During that time, MCTV has had to revamp its equipment as new video formats have evolved, from VHS to Hi-8mm to Digital Video. MCTV has to purchase, maintain, and repair complex video cameras, decks, and digital video servers and related equipment to keep Channel 6 on the air. All of this requires substantial financial support. MCTV does receive a significant portion of its funding from franchise fees paid by Comcast Cable to the Country of San Mateo and the City of Half Moon Bay, who then return a portion of those fees to MCTV. However, the Coastside community is limited in size and there are far fewer cable subscribers on the Coast than in the more populous cities over the hill. As a result, MCTV operates on a far more limited budget than any other access channel in the County. MCTV needs to supplement its income with support from the community, in the form of dues-paying members, donations to MCTV, sponsors for programs, and sponsors for the MCTV Message Channel.

Become an MCTV Member

Any Coastside resident can become a member of MCTV. Membership dues are $20 a year. Membership entitles you to vote to elect the members of the MCTV Board of Directors, and to vote on other important corporate issues when they arise. Your membership dues help MCTV pay for the extensive facilities and equipment needed to maintain a community access television station on the Coastside.

Join MCTV by printing and mailing the MCTV Membership Form (.pdf) to MCTV.
