MCTV’s History

Mid-Coast Television was informally created at the suggestion of San Mateo County to take advantage of the opportunity to provide community access programming for the Coastside, which was isolated from most Bay Area print and television media. In 1983 MCTV incorporated as a non-profit, tax-exempt public benefit corporation and was formally designated by the County of San Mateo and the City of Half Moon Bay to provide PEG Access to the Coastside over the local cable system. MCTV went on the air for the first time on June 24, 1985, and has been on the air continuously ever since. MCTV is operated by a Board of Directors elected by its membership. Constance Malach of El Granada has been the President and Station Manager of MCTV since its inception.
